Soweto Tuk Tuk Tour
Another fun and exciting get-out-of-the-car-experience! Get on one of our cool Tuk-Tuk’s and ride around with our guide for a 1 hour cruise or choose a half day tour including all interesting sites of Soweto as well as a buffet lunch. 1 Hour TourOn our 1 hour tour we introduce you to our area of Orlando West and take you around our neighbouring communities. Stop and greet people, get to know the history and how these communities are today. Visit the former migrant workers’ hostel Mzimhlophe and taste the home brewed beer together with the locals at the shebeen. Experience how migrant workers used to live and see the new developments that are happening today. Before getting back to Lebo’s Soweto Backpackers, the guide will take you around some of the small streets of the township, stop at food/fruit/snack stalls and experience the taste of Soweto. Wash it all down with a drink or two back at Lebo’s. 4 Hour TourOn our half day (4 hrs tour) we introduce you to Soweto’s famous historical sites as well as the hidden spots around. Get introduced to Soweto’s history and life today, learn some of the local phrases and then cruise around greeting people. Stop at the local shebeen for some home brewed tastes, snack on Soweto style ‘munchies’ and then fill up your stomach for real with an African buffet at the restaurant. The tour will teach you about Soweto during Apartheid, freedom fighters struggle for freedom, political icons and today’s life and culture in a democratic South Africa.
